We use your data on and off of our Services to provide customized adverts to you. While we give you choices about tailored ads, you cannot prevent seeing other advertisements. We give advertisers data on the number and kinds of people who view and interact with their advertising. These data disclose the overall demographics and interests of those who interacted with an advertiser's ad. So, advertisers will have a better idea of their target market.
We evaluate the effectiveness (target) and performance of ads to Members, Visitors, and others, either directly or through several partners, using the following data, whether separately or combined:
You may see sponsored content advertisements that mimic non-sponsored content, except that they are labeled as advertising (e.g., as “ad” or “sponsored”). Your social activity ( (such as liking, commenting, or sharing) on such ads, is associated with your name and is visible to other people including the advertiser. Based on your privacy settings, if you take a social action on our Services, relevant ads may refer to that action. For example, if you "like" content, your name and photo may appear when their sponsored content is shown.

However, unless you give permission, we don't provide information to these publishers and their business partners that can be used to contact or identify you, such as your name or email address.
We abide by self-regulatory principles for interest-based advertising and engage in industry opt-outs from such ads. This does not prevent you from getting advertisements; you will still see other ads from advertisers that aren't listed with these self-regulatory tools. You may also choose not to have us use certain kinds of data to provide you with more relevant ads. For Visitors, the setting is here.

However, if a user chooses to see or click on an advertisement on or off our Services, the ad provider will be notified that someone visited the page where the ad was shown. Advertisers may link personal data taken directly from the user by the advertiser with hashed IDs or device identifiers obtained from us.
